Booking info

How do I book a place on a trip?

Look to your society's Instagram, where a code is released at a set day and time. When the code drops, enter it on our bookings platform (slushltd.co.uk/bookings) to find your trip. Once you're on the booking page, your space is reserved for 15 minutes — pay your deposit (normally £150) and you're booked on!

Top tips:
  • Make an account on our bookings platform before release day — it speeds the whole process up.
  • Be as quick as you can. Trips often sell out in minutes!
Who can come?

Places are restricted to members of each society, and you'll need to prove your membership to come on the trip.

Top tip: Many groups offer external memberships, so you can often join a trip even if you're from a different uni or have recently graduated.
When do trips run?

Trips are always scheduled during each uni's holiday periods. For specific dates, check your group's Instagram — these are normally released in August or September.

Can I book with friends and be roomed together?

Yes, absolutely! Room allocations are set a month or so before departure, and we'll do our best to make sure everyone's with their friends.

Each trip only has certain room sizes, so you may end up with a few extra people — head to club socials and events beforehand to get to know people and find more roommates.

What do I get, and what happens right after I book?

Your initial booking is a deposit for the base package, which includes your accommodation, lift pass, exclusive access to SLUSH events, and the support of our reps, security and trained professionals.

Other options — coach transport, ski lessons, ski hire and event tickets — are released a few months before the trip, and rest assured they'll be equally market-beating on price.

Top tip: Extras tend to sell out quickly too, so look out for reminders and release dates.

Booking options

What packages or trips do you offer?

We only offer the base group package described above. For some trips, accommodation and lift pass upgrades may also be available — these are voluntary and usually not a big extra charge.

What accommodation or room types can I choose from?

Most of our trips are large groups that book out whole blocks of hotels, so the choice is normally limited to room size and who you room with. Some trips may also have voluntary accommodation upgrades.

What optional extras can I add?

All of our trips include the following optional extras:

  • Return coach travel
  • Ski and snowboard lessons
  • Ski and snowboard hire
  • Event tickets
  • Merchandise

Some trips also offer:

  • Accommodation upgrades
  • Lift pass upgrades (only where there's an extended ski area)
  • Freestyle and backcountry workshops
Can total beginners and non-skiers come?

Yes, absolutely! The majority of people who come on our trips are beginners — there's no better or cheaper way to learn. And if you get there and it's not your cup of tea, we have a packed events schedule too (though we're yet to meet someone who didn't love being on the slopes).

Payments & pricing

How much is the deposit, and when's the balance due?

The deposit is almost always £150. The balance can be paid in self-service instalments, but there's a payment deadline a month or two before departure that will be enforced. You'll be made aware of this when you book.

Do you offer instalment or payment plans?

Yes! You can pay as much as you like, whenever you like, as long as the full balance is cleared before the payment deadline. Many groups also run a structured payment plan on Instagram to help members break it up, but this is voluntary.

What extra costs should I budget for?

Ski hire and transport are the main two — we offer exclusive discounts on both, but it's worth looking at flights, as they're often very cheap if you book in advance. You'll also get exclusive discounts at bars via your SLUSH wristband, provided on arrival. Budget around £100 minimum for food and drink in resort (though plenty of you will want some extra beer money too).

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

You can cancel within the first 24 hours of booking for a full refund, including your deposit, no questions asked. After that, the deposit is non-refundable. Beyond that:

  • 57 or more days before departure: 100% refundable, excluding the deposit
  • 29-56 days before departure: 40% refundable, excluding the deposit
  • 15-28 days before departure: 20% refundable, excluding the deposit
  • 14 days or fewer before departure: non-refundable

On resort

What's the accommodation like?

The standard varies but is normally 2-star or better. You'll be told the standard of accommodation for each trip during the booking process.

How do lift passes and lessons work?

You'll be given your lift pass along with your room keys on arrival. Take a photo of both sides of the pass — if you lose it and haven't, there's no way to replace it.

For lessons, you'll get an email with the meeting point, where a rep will be waiting to check tickets and hand you over to your instructors.

Is equipment hire available, and how do I sort it?

Yes — we offer big discounts on equipment hire. Collection is at a select hire location, which we'll tell you about by email before departure, and it's available on the day of arrival and the first morning. Reps will check your ticket and hand you over to qualified fitters who'll sort your equipment.

Top tip: You're responsible for any damage to the equipment, so you'll need to take out the equipment insurance offered at the hire shop in resort. This is required, not voluntary.
What's the après and social side like?

Resort après is always good, but with SLUSH you should expect another level — huge events, club takeovers and exclusive parties. Some groups even bring out big headliners, so keep an eye out.

We also run sober and non-drinking events like mountain meals and sunset skiing, among others.

Is there a SLUSH rep on the ground?

Yes — every trip has a team of reps, security personnel and a resort manager. Look out for their brightly coloured SLUSH jackets if you need anything. You'll also be given a phone number for the resort manager and security in case of emergencies.

Travel advice

How do we get there?

SLUSH offers budget-friendly return coach travel from your university to the hotel in resort. You're also welcome to arrange your own flights, trains or alternative transport — check your group's Instagram, as they'll share info to help you out.

What documents do I need?

You'll need a valid passport, and that's currently the main thing — since Brexit, UK travellers enter the EU with just a passport. Make sure yours is in date: for EU travel it must be less than 10 years old on the day you enter and valid for at least 3 months after you plan to leave. Renewals can take weeks, so check early.

A couple of extras worth sorting:

  • A GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) — the free UK card that covers state healthcare in the EU. It doesn't replace travel insurance, but it's handy to have alongside it.
  • The EU's new ETIAS travel authorisation is coming, but it isn't live yet, so for now a passport is all you need. It's worth a quick check on gov.uk before you travel in case that changes.

Not a UK citizen? Check the entry requirements for your own nationality, as visa rules may differ.

Do I need insurance, and is any included?

You must have travel insurance to come on the trip. You can buy it through our booking process or with a third party — it's normally very cheap.

Top tip: Check with family first to see if you're already covered on an existing travel insurance plan.
What kit should I pack?

The essentials:

  • Waterproof ski jacket and salopettes (ski trousers)
  • Thermal base layers, top and bottoms — a couple of sets
  • Mid layers like a fleece or hoodie
  • Ski socks (bring a few pairs)
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens
  • Goggles and sunglasses
  • A neck warmer or snood, and a warm hat for off the slopes
  • High-factor sun cream and SPF lip balm — the mountain sun is stronger than it looks
  • A small backpack for the slopes
  • Evening clothes and sturdy shoes with grip for icy streets
  • Swimwear (some hotels have a pool or spa)
  • Any personal medication and a European travel adapter
  • Your passport, insurance details, GHIC and booking confirmation

Your skis or board, boots and helmet can all be hired in resort at a big discount, so no need to lug those out unless you have your own. Bulky jackets and salopettes can often be borrowed from friends or society kit if you'd rather not buy.

Safety & support

Are trips financially protected?

Yes — we're covered by ABTOT, which guarantees all our customers a full refund or repatriation in the unlikely event of our insolvency.

What happens if there's a problem or emergency on the trip?

You'll be given contact details for the resort manager and security, who are trained in first aid and mental health first aid; our security team can also liaise with police if needed, as they're all bilingual. Always contact them as soon as possible, and call the emergency services where necessary. The numbers for local authorities and ski patrol are also on your wristband in case you get into trouble on the mountain.

Who do I contact before and during my trip?

Feel free to get in touch with any questions before the trip — our team will do their best to help with any concerns. During the trip, non-emergency queries should go to your reps, who'll make themselves known to you on arrival.
